From Maps to Management: Scaling Service Design with Journey Management
Most journey maps start in a workshop and end as a forgotten PDF. In this hands-on workshop, participants learn how to turn journey maps into a living information system for continuous decision-making. Working with a practical case, they will connect journeys across different levels, add customer evidence, pain points, KPIs, and ongoing initiatives, then use this shared view to identify overlaps and decide what to improve first. The session introduces journey hierarchies, management maps, and a governance system for Journey Management, helping teams move from isolated mapping projects to coordinated action across silos.

Practising Human Centered Design: From Personal Craft to Organisational Change
Human Centered design lives or dies in two places: the practitioner’s own practice, and the organisation around them. Built on Module 1 of Gerry Scullion’s forthcoming book This is Human Centered Design (BIS Publishers, feb 2027), this full-day workshop works on both. In the morning, strengthen your personal practice: craft, judgement and influence. In the afternoon, diagnose why HCD fades in your organisation and build a practical plan to make it stick.

Embodied Methods: Inclusion and Safe Space
How can we explore a service not only by talking about it, but by stepping inside it? Embodied methods use the whole body to explore experiences, revealing emotion, motivation, movement, space, timing and tone of voice. They can also include people who may be disadvantaged by methods that rely on high levels of literacy, abstraction or comfort in presenting. Part embodied design workshop and part facilitation masterclass, this session offers methods for research, ideation, prototyping and implementation while exploring how to create safe spaces through trust, choice and clear boundaries.

Lou Downe & Sarah Drummond
Lou Downe is the author of Good Services and founder of the School of Good Services. Formerly the UK Government’s Director of Design, they now help organisations build and scale better services. Their new book, Bad Services, came out in June. Sarah Drummond is co-founder and ex-CEO of Snook, where she built one of the most successful service design studios in the UK, and went on to become Chief Digital Officer at NEC Software Solutions. Today, she helps public and private organisations develop their service design capability.

Here, nature slows you down and gives clarity to think about your next moves as a designer. Design is being disrupted, and so is the designer’s career. The Designer’s Trail brings together designers who are reflecting on their design career during two days of workshops, campfires, and silent walks.
