Leading With CuriosityMetaskills for innovation and leading change

To harness the power of AI, we don’t just need to keep pace with ever-new release of AI tools, rather we need to build our faculty to pay attention and be curious to what is changing, and hone our judgement on what to act upon.

Session will experientially illustrate key principles of skills mastery with an example of curiosity as a core meta skill for innovation and leading change. You will reflect on your curiosity levels through guided self assessment, and engage in practical exercises to strengthen it. Bonus: you will be introduced to the Meta Skills framework – a set of meta skills that could form the core of how you lead change.

In the din of the AI chatter we seem to be missing something – the enduring power of skills that have stood the test of time, metaskills – the slow skills, skills that are foundational to learn other skills. We are at a stage in human history where technology is getting diffused at a rate that humans will find increasingly difficult to adapt to, both biologically and cognitively. Earlier generations had a lifetime to adapt to a new technology, now you need to adapt in a matter of weeks. Does that put cognitive strain on the human brain? Will our biological and cognitive makeup be able to adapt with the exponential advancement of technology? There will be so much more to adapt, and at a much faster pace. We don’t have any previous (lived) experience of this. It is a test of human species! In such a world where the future is uncertain and technology is unpredictable how shall we navigate into the rapidly unfolding future? What skills will be critical? Perhaps, going back to the basics and understanding the skills that made us successful as a species in the first place might give us some answers.
